Endowment Fund

Statement of Purpose

The goal of Hui `Aina o Hana's Endowment Fund is to provide income to the organization in order to carry out its work in protecting cultural and historic properties, wildlife habitat, environmentally sensitive land and open space in Hawai`i and educating the people about sound land management.

Source of Funds

Funds for the Endowment may come from contributions, grants, bequest and other sources.

Goal of Fund Management

The fund shall be managed so as to provide a high total return on investments consistent with prudent investment management. The funds shall be managed so as to maintain a diversified portfolio.

Use of Funds and Income

Income and realized gains from the fund will be available to the Board of Governors for expenditure in connection with Hui programs. Use of principal monies in the fund can only be made upon a vote of two-thirds of the Governors of the Hui.

Changes in Fund Goals or Management

Changes in the goals of the fund and its management may be made only by a vote of the Board of Governors. Future Boards of Governors must have flexibility in deciding how income from the fund is expended in order to best meet the needs of the Hui in protecting lands in Hawai`i and in caring for Hui owned resources.
