Baseline Data Checklist

  1. Photos
  2. Elements of conserved lands to be photographed:
    cultural sites
    cultural landscapes
    critical habitat/natural features
    open space features
    buffer zones
    existing improvements (roads, utilities)
    property boundaries/corners
    historical sites
    other cultural features
    prominent scenic features
    forested features
    rare flora and fauna
    photo from main access
    wetlands, steams, water

  3. Maps
  4. Locator map: Tax Map Key with directions to property

    Base map: USGA topographic map with boundaries delineated. Map(s) should be 8.5" X 11" to fit in folders. Above elements should be identified along with the following:
    cultural resources
    physical boundaries (stone walls, fence, etc.)
    amount of land conserved
    historical resources
    public/other access
    other features
    Survey of property with current abutters identified

    Survey of area with existing improvements and site(s) of proposed future improvements (structures, rights of way, utilities, etc.).


  5. Current Use of Land
  6. Brief description of current uses, i.e, agriculture, open space, wetland etc.

    Other documentation of past uses of land


  7. Title History
  8. If possible, Certificate of Title, abstract or other recitation of chain of title.

    Copy of current deeds or other instruments vesting title.

    If title not clear, per cent interest and list (with addresses if possible) of other owners.


  9. Natural Areas
  10. Description of important habitat, riparian areas, wetlands, geologic features, scenic vistas and any specific recommendations for their long term management and protection.

    Sites specifically identified by State of Hawai`i which contain rare/endangered/threatened spices of flora and fauna.


  11. Scenic Areas
  12. Description of important scenic areas or vistas and any specific recommendations for their long term management and protection.


  13. Forested Areas
  14. Description of important forested areas and any specific recommendations for its long term management and protection

  15. Open Space Areas
  16. Description of open spaces and any specific recommendations for its long term management and protection.


  17. Cultural Landscape/Resources
  18. Description of any cultural landscapes, resources or other sites and any specific recommendations for their management and protection.
